"Home value" typically refers to how much someone would pay for the home or what a bank or appraiser views as it's worth. Pest control plays an important part in preserving the safety and value of our homes and communities. Experts estimate that termites alone cause $5 billion of property damage each year. Bed bug infestations are on the rise. Numerous studies link landscaping and well-maintained lawns to property value increases of 11 to 15 percent.
In reality, though, home value is more than a number. Our homes – whether owned, rented, shared or otherwise – and communities in which they exists are where life happens. Green space – including lawns, personal and community gardens, roof gardens, and more – add to the quality of life of a community and home. The benefits these spaces provide range from lower crime rates and stress reduction to reduced soil erosion.
